Hi,

I have seen a related post regarding the driver not relaible , we are in design phase and wanted to select a driver IC

Initially we were good with drv8301 but drv8323 seems to have more features , seeing a lot of issues we are conserned with the product durability and quality. Can you please confirm if this part is having any issues?

To give you a brief answer to your questions,

The DRV832x device has successfully ramped in large-scale production with for many of our customers' application designs using it today. It is a mature product that follows TI's quality and reliability protocols during design and validation development. (https://www.ti.com/support-quality/quality-reliability.html)

Many of the debug e2e threads we see are due to operating the device outside of its datasheet specifications (e.g. operating it at too high of a voltage supply rail and not accounting for sufficient voltage margin to anticipate motor BEMF - or configuring gate-drive settings in a way that operate the MOSFETs too aggressively, resulting in voltage transients that exceed the part's abs max ratings).

These two resources below should help explain the behavior further, but if your system is defined w/ device specifications in mind, then there should not be any issues with damage under normal use (within recommended operating conditions). For any specific questions on device operation, please refer to the datasheet and feel free to start a new e2e thread where clarification is needed.

Hi ,

Thank you for your response.

I have one question regarding Hall sensor input . I can see in some documentation Hall sensor input fed to the driver but drv8323 doesnt have pins for hall sensors

Which drv8323 has sensored control? Is this sensorless controller?

Hi Amrith,

To have hall sensor input be fed back into any of the DRV832x devices the device must first be in 1xPWM mode and then the INLA, INHB, and INLB pins can be used as hall sensor input pins.

Can you please provide the Rsesnse value calculation. I am using 3.3V Vref , single directional . I am confused with the datasheet explanation

Hi Amrith,

To calculate a Rsense value you can use the equation: Rsense = (Vref - 0.3 - Vmin) / (Gcsa * Imax)

Where Vmin is 0.25 and Imax is the max value of your motor current.
