DRV8889-Q1: Motor specs driven by DRV8889-Q1

Part Number: DRV8889-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8461

Hello team,

I have a question for motor specs driven by DRV8889-Q1.

Is DRV8889-Q1 capable of controlling both high impedance motors and low impedance + high inductance motors?

Also how can we know if a stepper driver IC can drive both of them or not?

Best regards,

Shotaro

  • Hello,

There is no simple answer here as there are more factors to consider in the system such as load in the system.  Technically, there are not limitations on the driver as long as the desired speed can be achieved and torque delivered.

We try to take the "guess" work out of this with devices like the DRV8461 that includes auto-torque to ensure the motor current is properly regulated to the load.
