Hello,

I have finally got my DRV8312 kit, installed all the programs and have got some motor movement.

But then, the motor stopped and i saw :

1. Red led instead of green one on the main board.

2. Power supply current = 0.5A (with 24v)

3. incorrect voltage of other voltages - no 3.3v, no 5v and no 12v

4. The device itself (DRV8312) is really hot on the top and the bottom.

What could be the possible problems in this case? Anyone can recommend something?

Is there a possibility that something wrong with the device and it should be replaced?

Or maybe there is a possibility to bye a new board but only the main card (as we are limited in time)?

Yulya,

Without the controlCARD plugged into the kit, connect the power supply that was supplied with the kit and if the red nFault LED turns on then the DRV8312 chip is no longer functioning correctly and the fastest way to replace this would be to order a sample of the TI website ( This is only an option if you have the correct tools for surface mount soldering and a way to connect the powerpad underneath the chip). When this happened was the supplied motor and power supply being used? If not which motor was being used?

Hello LT Thomas,

I have already ordered samples (and actually a new kit also).

And yes, the nFault LED turns red, and i also took all the device pins up, and now , at least all the voltages of the system are correct.

The supplied motor had been connected , when this is happen during the failure.

What is the correct way to connect the power pad underneath the chip?

A full document on the PowerPAD can be found at http://focus.ti.com/lit/an/slma002g/slma002g.pdf, but the above will provide you all the information needed. I am not sure why the original device failed with the supplied motor.
