DRV8462: Regarding Auto torque

Part Number: DRV8462

Hi support team.

Is auto torque control affected by Decay mode setting?
When I changed the initial value from Smarttune (Ripple control) to Mixed decay 60%, the current reduction effect of Autotorque became less noticeable.
Do you think it's another influence rather than the Decay mode setting?

Best regards,

Higa

  • Hi Higa san,

Yes it will be affected by Decay mode setting including Silent step setting. The recommended decay setting is STRC which will also maximize the use slow decay vs. fast decay during decreasing current amplitude which means this will be the most energy efficient decay mode as well as should offer lowest audible noise from the motor. Is there a specific reason you want to use Mixed decay 60%?

If you change the decay mode you'll have to redo the learning again and retune auto torque setting for proper operation.

Thank you for your prompt reply and advise.

    I understood well.
