DRV8251AEVM: DRV8251AEVM

Hi John,

Can you provide a diagram of picture of how you are connecting the launch pad to the DRV8251AEVM?

I believe the issue is that both the MSP on the launchpad and the MCU on the DRV8251AEVM are in conflict with each other and CCS is not reading the correct MCU.

.  I tried to upload a pic (drag & drop) but the post didn’t seem to want to accept it.  I also tried to attach a pic to your email and reply to it but the address is a noreply and was returned undelivered due to excessive size.  However, I took the MSP430FR5696 off of the LaunchPad as the instructions in the User’s Guide for the DRV8251AEVM says to do.  Purchased and soldered right angled 4 pin connector to J21 of LaunchPad to interface with J6 of DRV8251AEVM board, and set jumpers on LauncPad properly also according to User's Guide. It explain how to customize the firmware if one wishes to and indicates to buy a MSP430FR5969 LaunchPad to re-program the MSP430FR2100 on the DRV8251AEVM board.  That error message that I copied into this post has like three buttons at the bottom (CANCEL, RETRY, IGNORE).  I finally tried IGNORE and it seemed to just go ahead and program the board and it broke at MAIN.  I was able to RESUME, SUSPEND, SINGLE STEP, and all the rest so I think I’m good but was concerned that I had somehow selected a wrong setting for target in CCS. I have no clue where the MSP430F2618 in the error message is coming from since neither board has that processor on it nor (I would assume) does any of the firmware files refer to it.

BTW, I down loaded the firmware (slvc831.zip) for the DRV8251AEVM eval board from the TI website.  I unzipped to a personal folder and have attached a screenshot of the folder contents which show both a MSP430F2617.cmd file and a MSP430FR2100.cmd file in the "Target Configs" folder.  This must be why, after importing the project into CCS, I get that original error message.  How can I fix this?

Thanks for the explanation. Can you try the following:

1) In your CCS project: delete the file MSP430F2617.ccxml or just remove from project.

2) Check the device manager and make sure there are no errors with your driver

3) Check the following posts for more debugging tips:

If all fails, I would reboot your machine, create a new project making sure you select the correct device during project setup and try again.

Thank you for the suggestions.  I will try them all.  However the two links you provided bring me to "Page not Found".  Did you try those links?  Perhaps I am doing something wrong.  Must I be signed into E@E to make them work?

The second link is broken. It was probably deleted. I copied the links from a different E2E thread. The first link does work.
