MCT8329A: Does Programmable version exist?

Part Number: MCT8329A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8328

Is there a version of MCT8329A that can be programmed by the user like any other microprocessor ?

  • Hi Phil,

Thank you for your question on the motor drives E2E forum.

As of today, TI does not have any "open core" motor control solution that allows user programmability into the commutation algorithm firmware. However, we can offer competitive two chip solutions depending on what the expectation is for the programmability.

Are you looking to adapt the commutation algorithm beyond the available tuning settings? I suggest looking at our DRV8328/9 products + TI MCU solution like C2000 or MSP.

Are you looking to handle simple commands like turning on and off the motor driver at a specific time or in a specific way that is outside of the scope of the standalone mode in the MCT8329A? I suggest adding a simple, low cost, housekeeping MCU to handle these commands without overpaying for a system MCU.

What are the exact requirements for your project where we can help build with a system solution?

    Best,

    Robert
