Hello Team,
My customer is using the DRV8718S and he had a question regarding the motor braking feature of this IC. This IC’s datasheet states a Power Off braking turn-on time of 13us.
Is this a very accurate time? Are there any design considerations to not exceed this value? This datasheet only lists the typical value; what are the minimum and maximum values for this turn-on time? The OEM is requesting this information and I need to put it in Worst-Case Circuit Analysis.
My second question is regarding both DRV8718S and DRV8245 ICs.
Will this device lose control of the Gate/input signal when exposed to a negative gate to source bias. This can generally occur if the device has an open circuit (gate/input is near zero volts (commanded OFF) and the source is pulled high via a current source on the output used for open circuit detection, or if the source/output is shorted to battery). Can ion-migration occur resulting in a Vt shift, which may allow the device to be partially ON when the gate/input is OFF?
Many Thanks,
Josef
