Hi team,
The customer uses DRV8305S to drive a BLDC motor with a rated voltage of 24V and a rated current of 1.7A. May I know how big should the decoupling capacitor be?

Annie

Hi Annie,
According to the DRV8305 datasheet (External Components table), the decoupling capacitor attached from PVDD to GND (C-PVDD) should have a minimum capacitance of 4.7uF and be rated for the PVDD operating voltage (+24V in this case). This is so that the sensitive internals relying on PVDD are receiving a stabilized charge flow.
The 1uF capacitors circled are used in the actual layout as, essentially, local smoothing/stabilizing agents of VDRAIN to each FET while the 4.7uF is directly near the PVDD (pin 41) of the IC.
Hope this information is satisfactory.
Best Regards,
-Joshua
