DRV8432DKD technical help

Hello:

Could you pls help to answer the following two questions about DRV8432DKD

1- in the Evaluation Board of this part,  a1000uF capacitor is used to feed the PVDD, How much can this amount be reduced?

2-What should we do with any of the half bridge pins which are not used? (I mean, in what state should we place the half bridge pins that are not used)

my email: buyer3@detonak.com

Best regards

Amy

  • Hello Amy,

The PVDD capacitance is dependent on the current needed to be supplied to the motor while switching, the desired voltage ripple at PVDD, and other parameters.

In the EVM, we added more than needed capacitance at PVDD because to cover worst case scenarios. How much it can be reduces will depend on your load current and voltage ripple as I mentioned above. This video provides useful information on how to select your power bulk capacitor. I hope this helps.
