DRV8262: Which would be the best H-Bridge to drive one 5A, 24V thermoelectric cooler?

Hello,

   I have a project where we need to drive a 24V, 5A thermoelectric cooler. Need H-bridge because we need to switch polarity based on whether we are heating or cooling. Which part do you recommend? We were looking at the DRV8262 and DRV8243-Q1 or even something simple like the DRV8874. Would like to have current monitoring. What part do you recommend? Would like a part that works and is also in stock somewhere.

    Hey Derek, 

    The DRV8262 would certainly work well for you, it was recently released and has plenty high current limits.  Normally I would recommend the DRV8962 but looks like its out of stock as you note.  It also has the best current sensing accuracy of all those drivers.  

    That said, I think any of the parts you linked would work and those are all pretty popular devices of ours.  Note that the DRV8262/8962 is the largest package footprint and most expensive of all these, so if size or cost matters then the others might be better for you.  The DRV8243-Q1 is probably the best balance of current capability, package size, price, and availability for your application.
