DRV8889-Q1: Regarding circuit current

Part Number: DRV8889-Q1

Hi Team

I recieved several question from customer. could you help following items?

How to cut the phase current when DRV8889 does not drive the stepping motor?

Is the way to cut the phase current  “DRVOFF” or “Sleep”?

For regulating current, which takes precedence, Full scale current or torque?

best regards

TATSU

  • Hi Tatsu-san,

    1. Is there a way to cut the phase current “DRVOFF” or “nSLEEP”?

In nSLEEP mode, all internal MOSFETs, DVDD regulator, charge pump, and SPI are disabled and will remain in SLEEP mode until the pin is brought high.

The DRVOFF pin disables the half-bridges in the Hi-Z state.

The device functional modes can be found in section 7.4 of the datasheet.

    1. For regulating current which takes precedence, full-scale current or torque?

The full-scale current (IFS) is set by the reference voltage (VREF) and the TRQ_DAC is used to further scale the current. The SPI settings for the TRQ_DAC can be found in table 7-6 of the datasheet.

    Best,

    David
