DRV8718-Q1: IC protection mechanisms

Part Number: DRV8718-Q1

Hi team,

DRV8718 split or other integrated MOS motor drivers such as DRV8242,  for the motor actuator, when it is forced down (motor is equivalent to generator), if there are any protection mechanisms? If so, is the freewheel test in the specification? Could you help share the document explaining this mechanism for reference? 

Could you help look into this case? Thanks.

    Hi Cherry,

    Thank you for your question.

    DRV8718-Q1 has power-off brake function. Please refer datasheet 8.3.8.2 for details. Turning on GLx then discharge energy by generated by motor (By forcing movement by human hand as example).

    DRV8242/43/44/45-Q1 has VMOV detection. It helps MCU know VM increasing by Motor generator mode.
