Hi Molly,
The spread spectrum clocking feature is already enabled by default. The device will not need to be configured to implement this feature.

David
Thanks David. One more question, Could you help confirm that the fixed spread spectrum range if the output frequency is 10kHz?
In other words, when the driver output 10kHz, how much is the tolerance for each cycle(100us)?
Hi Molly,
I will look into it and get back to you on Monday.
Best,
David
Hi Molly,
The exact specification for the 8702 is not specified, however the typical tolerance range per cycle is in the ns range for similar devices.

David
Hi Brian,
The output delay tolerance is dependent on multiple parameters. The spread spectrum range is quite small in comparison to other parameters such as propagation delay, and gate drive slew time. The propagation delay is composed of an input deglitcher and output slewing delay and is provided in other gate drivers like the DRV8706 and is in the hundreds of ns range. Unfortunately, this data is not provided for the DRV8702 but is safe to assume it is larger than 10 ns.
A description of the propagation delay can be found in the datasheet and is provided below:

David
