DRV8328AEVM: Booster Pack Setup Help

Part Number: DRV8328AEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8328, LAUNCHXL-F2800157, LAUNCHXL-F280049C, C2000WARE

I am trying to evaluate the BOOST_DRV8328 board using a LAUNCHXL-F2800157 and have a few questions:

  1. My launchpad has two different booster pack slots. Does it matter which one this board is plugged into?
  2. I see provisions for hall sensors on the EVM. Does this support analog hall sensors? From what I can tell these signals are not routed to ADC pins on the launchpad
  3. Is there an example that will support this combination out of the box?
  • Hi Dan,

    Thank you for your questions.

Allow me to look further into our available material for both boards this week and provide answers as soon as I can.

    Best Regards,

    -Joshua

  • Hi Dan, I apologize for the delayed response.

My launchpad has two different booster pack slots. Does it matter which one this board is plugged into?

Both booster slots should be able to function and connect to the DRV8328EVM, but the second booster slot has slightly different optional routing/functions attached to its pins which may be useful depending on the application and if another device is going to be attached too. These pinouts can be found here in the quick start guide.

I see provisions for hall sensors on the EVM. Does this support analog hall sensors? From what I can tell these signals are not routed to ADC pins on the launchpad

The DRV8328EVM does support analog hall sensors, and the sensor connections will be connected through the GPIO pins on the launchpad. For the recommended LAUNCHXL-F280049C with DRV8328, for example, the hall sensors are routed to GPIOs 59, 58, and 23, on the launchpad, not to a strict ADC input.

Is there an example that will support this combination out of the box?

The C2000Ware Motor_Control_SDK library here should have example projects that will help get you started. Check under the Universal Motor Control Lab tab.

Let me know if I can help any further!

    Best Regards,

    -Joshua
