MCF8316A: Reset the µC - recommendations

What are your recommendations for resetting the MCF8316A?

We need a way to reset the IC in case it gets unresponsive over I2C or gets into an undefined state after resetting the µC that controls it.

Preferrably without having to cut the VM high energy power supply of the MCF.

Hi Daniel,

If you are trying to reset the device when the device gets stuck due to the errata that occurs after sending to many I2C commands in a certain length of time then unfortunately this is only fixable by power cycling the device.

I would recommend looking at the MCF8315A if it meets your systems requirements as this device does not run into this issue. If you cannot move to the MCF8315A, we also will be coming out with a MCF8316C device soon which will not have this errata.
