DRV8962: drv8962

Part Number: DRV8962

Hi

This table  7-3  defines options for fast and slow decay on the other hand there is another table  8-1 with different definitions (Brake, Brake* and Coast) what are the different between these options and could I use it for driving a single BDC motor ?

Thanks

  • Hi Shai,

The term slow decay and brake mean the same thing, the terms fast decay and coast also mean the same thing.

You can learn more about current recirculation and decay modes in this app note: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva321a/slva321a.pdf?ts=1695170713255

could I use it for driving a single BDC motor ?

Yes. The DRV8962 has the capability of driving up to four solenoids or valves, one stepper motor, two brushed DC motors, one BLDC or PMSM motor and up to two thermoelectric coolers (Peltier elements)
