DRV8952: control TEC

Part Number: DRV8952

Hi Team,

When using the DRV8952 to drive the TEC, a low-pass filter is used as recommended in the app note and the 10-μH inductor and 22-μF capacitor mentioned on page 34 are being used.

With a PWM frequency of 100K, it's found that TEC is not controlled and the chip temperature is high. When 22 μF of capacitor is removed, TEC is found to be controlled properly and die temperature is normal. Could you help share what is the best configuration to control the TEC with this device?

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Hello Cherry,

I believe the 22uF capacitor in addition to the TEC is consuming a lot of power which increases the IC temperature and cause thermal shutdown.

The configuration described in the datasheet is correct. But you may have to recalculate the inductance and capacitance for the low pas filter. Can you try lowering the capacitance and increasing the inductance to achieve same attenuation while lowering current consumption by the capacitor?

    Regards,
