Motor drive MCF8316A current limit lock

We try to drive motor in the -10C temps chamber

Whenever the motor fails to start during the test and the EVM BD Fault LED lights up

I will power off for 5~10 minutes and wait for the LED to turn off before continuing to the next round

but at the end I see a current exceeding the limit of 8A (please Refer to the picture below)

After,I couldn't start it anymore, so I tried using the GUI tool "Control fault setting", but it still couldn't be started.

I have disabled HW_LOCK_limit_mode, but it still doesn’t work.

Maybe that's why it is broken…

Is there other ways to confirm this EVM BD is still normal?

Hi ML Hseih,

Does this works at 25C or normal room temperature?

Did you check motor is everything fine? Any capacitance exists?

Yes, the motor was fine, I haved to use PMD1000 drive it, and it was starting

Hi Brian,

Can you enable OCP detection also. Looking at the waveform either one of the phase is not proper or damaged.

I understand that the board worked at 25C but -10C it failed ad after that it never works? Please confirm if my understanding is correct.

Yes, i would enable OCP detect always haved and the waveform was also confrimed that there have nothing

Hi Brian,

What is the R,L of the motor ? The errors are expected, looks like all three phases are not driving.

Do you have another EVM with you? Or can you try to get sample and replace the device?
