DRV8873-Q1: how to test the SPI communication between MCU and DRV8873-Q1 is OK.

In our design, there is only one DRV8873-Q1 chip used and I want to know how to test the SPI communication between MCU and DRV8873-Q1 is OK. What I mean is that when I send fixed data to DRV8873-Q1 and DRV8873-Q1 will definitely return fixed data to MCU. Thanks!

Hey Xiujun,

I recommend writing and reading the IC1 Control Register. You can set the TOFF, SPI_IN, SR, and MODE values and then read them back and you should receive the values you sent. Make sure the device is not in Sleep Mode.

Read 7.5.1.1 SPI Format to make sure you follow the SDI and SDO Data Word Format properly. A logic analyzer such as the Saleae can be very helpful when debugging these communication signals.
