DRV8434EVM: Running the GUI without Cloud Agent

Hello,

I'm trying to run the GUI locally for the DRV8434EVM kit, but I'm running into all sorts of issues trying to connect to the GUI. I was able to install the GUI (DRV84xx 0.1.4) and the associated run-time (GC 7.4.1) using one-time admin access on my work laptop, but I still end up getting an error as the GUI is trying to connect to the TI Cloud Agent (see below). I have verified the GC Runtime installation error, and I do have the runtime installer and application correctly located as per the suggestion in the error window. Is there any work around here, or is it impossible to get the GUI to run on a laptop with modern corporate IT policies?

Hello Jeff,

Were you able to run the cloud version of the GUI successfully? It can be run using this link https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/MotorDriversBSM/DRV84xx/ver/0.1.4/. Prior to using this link login to dev.ti.com/gallery using your myTI credentials.

For the local app installation it might be beneficial to reinstall the Runtime one more time. The Runtime installer can be downloaded using this link https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/non-esd/gui_composer/runtime/gcruntime-7.4.2-windows-installer.exe.

We are aware automatic installation of the Runtime is affected with certain IT policies. A manual installation of the Runtime usually works most of the time. I hope a reinstall will fix the issues for you. Let us know how it goes. Thanks for posting in this forum.

Hi Murugavel,

Unfortunately, our corporate IT policy forbids the installation of browser extension, so I am unable to use the cloud version of the GUI.

In regards to the re-installation, I have done so twice now but I can try again. For reference, here is my 'help->about' screenshot for my current installation:

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the update. So running local app is the only option for you. Something is preventing Runtime operation as well. The GUI composer desktop and cloud app uses Node.js javascript runtime environment in its backend. It creates a local host with IP address 127.0.0.1. Would this local address get blocked by your IT policy? -or- If your PC is configured to use a proxy, you will need to ensure that proxy is bypassed for this localhost address 127.0.0.1. I hope this helps.

My apologies for the delay, but I was only able to get back to this issue now. It looks like something had happened with the javascript runtime environment being blocked.

I ended up finding a non-networked computer to install the software on, and it was successful. Thanks.
