DRV8323: The DRV8323SR reports UVLO fault

Part Number: DRV8323

Hi Team,

When communicating with the DRV8323SR over SPI, the error status registers read as 0x0080 and 0x0040, respectively, VM Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO) and charge Pump Undervoltage (CPUV).

The supply voltage is 24 V and the charge pump voltage is 35 V as measured by the multimeter. The initial values read by other registers are all correct and the parameters written to the registers are configured exactly as read. The nFault pin is also not pulled low.

So the customer would like to know what's the possible cause of the issue and where to start troubleshooting?

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Hi Cherry,

The registers may have been filled with fault data during device startup where both faults could have been triggered. The register bits designating a fault for these UVLO conditions stay set until cleared by an ENABLE reset pulse (a unique pulse sequence on ENABLE of a length between 8 - 40 uS) or the CLR_FLT bit, as explained in a bit more detail in the datasheet here:

Let me know if I can clarify anything further.

    Best Regards,
