DRV8210EVM: Only input 3.75V to VM of DRV8210EVM, the VCC_DRV pin can measure 3.3V

I only give 3.75V to DRV8210EVM from VM and not giving any signal to other pins including VCC_DRV. However, I measured 3.3V from VCC_DRV. My problem is why VCC_DRV would output voltage? I think VCC_DRV is for the input voltage of the external MCU

Hello,

Which package are you using? DRL package only has VM input. DSG has VM and VCC input. For DSG, you have to supply voltage for both in order to function.

Please provide scope captures showing your measurements and a schematic of your circuit.

Hello,

I'm using the DSG package. This one is the input voltage scope of VM which I measured from DRV8210EVM.And this one is VCC_DRV which I also measured from DRV8210EVM.

Please share schematic. I don't know how it is possible to have a VCC output with a VM input . There is no internal regulator.

OK, this makes sense now. There is a regulator on the EVM, U1, that takes VM on the input and outputs 3.3V. This voltage is used to power the onboard MCU and the VCC pin on the DRV8210. This voltage is required for the DRV8210 logic to operate properly. It is definitely an input to the device.

Everything is normal and expected.

OK, I got it. However, there is a pin named VCC_DRV on J4. When I want to use an external MCU(ex. arduino uno) to control drv8210evm to drive motor, do I need to input 3.3V to this pin?
