DRV8952: Could I use DRV8952 replace the ADI MAX22200 and MAX22216

Part Number: DRV8952

Hi Team

I am going to recommend customer use DRV8952 to replace the MAX22200 and MAX22216.

Could you help me to check whether my point is correct?

1. MAX22216 have "Plunger Detection Function" - DRV8952 only can be completed using current detection and algorithm?

2. MAX22216 have "Inductance detection" - Used to detect partial blockage. Our chips can't do that?

Or do we have other ways to suggest customers to complete the above functions?

  • Hi Tony,

    1. "MAX22216 have "Plunger Detection Function" - DRV8952 only can be completed using current detection and algorithm?". Yes this is possible.

    2. "MAX22216 have "Inductance detection" - Used to detect partial blockage. Our chips can't do that?". The competition device has AC excitation and inductance measurement. We do not do that. When the H-brdige is disabled (HiZ) customer can build an external AC excitation and inductance measurement using the external MCU.

Also the competition device is SPI controlled. The DRV8952 is hardware controlled using GPIO of an MCU.

  • Recently, Customer are going to compare ADI and our DRV IC. I would like to convince customers to use our chip.

Do you think it is best which I use DRV8952  PK MAX22216 and MAX22200, Do you have more better suggestion?

In addition , Do you have some slides to show how to complete the "Plunger Detection Function" or "Inductance detection" in TI chip or solution. I will try my best to promote it to customer. My email: tony-liu@ti.com

    Thank you very much.

If not, I will draw a rough diagram and please review it for me, thank you.

  • Hi Tony,

We can sync up via email. Please close this thread. Thanks.
