DRV8718-Q1: VDS detection logic

Hi Team,

Regarding to the datasheet VDS detection section, the voltage cross the comparator exceed threshold will trigger the alert.

Typically we think the (forward input - reverse input)> or cross the threshold will trigger the fault. While, if the (reverse input - forward input) is a positive number or exceed the threshold, how's the DRV8718 react? Will it trigger the VDS?

    Frank,

    Are you thinking of the case when the device is in "fast decay" with FETs enabled and current is flowing back into the supply?  For this case, Vds would not be triggered.  The current must be flowing in the positive direction as you noted.
