DRV8718-Q1: Risk analysis of AGND floating

Part Number: DRV8718-Q1

Hi team,

My customer is evaluating the risk of DRV8718 AGND floating(all the other design is normal, like PGND connection), could you help share how will device behave? or will it be damaged?

Thank you

Scarlett

  • Hi Scarlett,

For proper device operation TI recommendation is AGND, DGND, PGNDx, device ground GND and PPAD must all be electrically connected to system ground as mentioned in the data sheet. Could you please elaborate on what is meant by AGND floating? What will be its voltage with respect to system GND or other GND pins in the DRV?

We do have absolute max. specifications for voltage difference between the ground pins in the datasheet. Thanks.

    Regards, Murugavel
