DRV8718-Q1: Maximum PWM frequency

Hello, I am wondering about using one of these to control the voltage/current in four high power Peltier TEC modules (each 24V ~8Amp)

In order to keep the inductors small I want to use the highest PWM frequency possible but cannot find anywhere in the data-sheet or forums which states the maximum acceptable frequency of PWM the device can accept.

Can someone please help me (or advise of some other chip if this is not the most suitable).

Hi Ben,

This driver is primarily designed for driving brushed motors and solenoids that usually use about 20 kHz PWM. The maximum PWM frequency is mentioned in page-153 of the data sheet, https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/drv8718-q1.pdf. Thanks.

I thought I had searched the data sheet thoroughly but never thought this information would be right down on page 153

Anyway, I don't think this will be sufficient. I really wanted something akin to the DRV8432 but as this is now discontinued I am trying to find a worthy successor. Obviously external FET's gives broader range of power capabilities but I would prefer to have something integrated if possible to reduce the rework required on our PCB. Can you suggest any worthy successors to the DRV8432 at all ?

Hi Ben,

Sorry it was not in the obvious location.

Our replacement option for the DRV8432 is the DRV8962, https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/drv8962.pdf. However it can support only up to 200 kHz PWM. Hope this would be usable for you. Thanks.
