DRV8424: Stepper motor cannot run, no current or action

Part Number: DRV8424

Hi team,

The DVDD pin voltage of this device was measured to be 0. DVDD is also 0 if the stepper motor is not connected. Customer referred to the design in the data sheet. The following is the schematic diagram of the design.

Could you help me figure out where the problem is?

Regards,

Annie

  • Hi Annie,

It appears the device may not be awake. When the device is awake DVDD will measure 5V. Be sure to have nSLEEP pin = logic high level for device to be in awake state. The schematic looks okay. M0 and M1 = logic high so 1/8 ustep is selected. Decay mode is set to STRC and TOFF set for lowest current ripple. Check voltage on nSLEEP to ensure logic high.
