Does the parallel mode in the data sheet mean that OUT1 and OUT4 can be connected together, and OUT2 and OUT3 can be connected together to drive a motor, thereby increasing the total output current?

Hi Annie,
OUT1 to 4 and 2 to 3 is not correct way to parallel connect the two bridges.
Please see the parallel mode connections in the datasheet, https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/drv8847.pdf page-25. Note the specific input connections and output connections shown in the figure. If connected differently parallel mode will not work. Let us know if any questions.
