DRV8323R: Sinusoidal drive on 1xPWM mode

Hi support team.

My customer is considering BLDC motor system with sinusoidal control by using hall sensor.

They asked us about sinusoidal drive with DRV8323R on 1xPWM mode.

Is it possible to construct system with DRV8353 on 1xPWM mode which BLDC motor is controlled by sinusoidal by using hall sensor?

-Sinusoidal BLDC motor drive system

MCU(1ch PWM output -> DRV8323R(1xPWM mode)->BLDC motor(w/hall sensor)

Thank you for answering.

However, from the description in the data sheet you mentioned, it cannot be determined whether sinusoidal control is possible.

It is not important to be able to use a Hall sensor, but rather whether sinusoidal control can be done with 1xPWM.

I believe that only trapezoidal control is possible with 1xPWM.

Is it incorrect?

Hi Higa-san,

1xPWM mode is for trapezoidal control only. If the customer wants to use sinusoidal control they will need to use 3x or 6x PWM mode and implement the sinusoidal algorithm inside their MCU.

If they are ok with a sensorless solution, the MCF8329 device provides integrated sensorless FOC control that is integrated into the driver.
