Original question:
I have the DVR8889-Q1EVM drive and I am using the GUI program to try to make the my stepper motor work. The following is my set up and the values entered into the program. Although I have it set up and connected to a power supply, hardware connection keeps getting lost and the motor is not moving when the connection is secured through the drive. Is there something I am doing wrong with the setup or the program?

If the hardware connection is lost the GUI will not control the EVM. I assume you were using the GUI 1.1.7 version. Were you using a 6-wire stepper motor? Looks like there are two extra unconnected wires from the motor. Please check if the proper phase A and B are connected by verifying coil connectivity with a multimeter. Ideally 4-wire bipolar stepper motors must be used with this driver.
If the EVM is connected properly with the GUI, the default values are as below.
