DRV8824: status after power on?

Genius 12865 points
Part Number: DRV8824

Hello Team,

The driver is operated in ½ step mode with slow decay.

Question: What is the state of the driver after power on?

Background: If the stepper motor is in the ½ step and is then switched off, it could make a ½ step to the full step when it is switched on again, correct?

Thank you and Best Regards, Hans

  • Hello Hans,

The microstep mode and decay mode are pin controlled. As long as these control settings don't change the driver will start in the mode defined by these pins. When the device is powered on or woke up from sleep mode the indexer will start in 45 degrees electrical angle with coil A and B driven with 71 % of IFS current. This could cause the motor to advance up to a step depending on which position was stopped previously before powering off or enabling sleep mode.
