Hello, I am using DRV8642EVM and can't find how to activate stall detection mode. Based on the DRV84xx_DRV82x2_DRV89x2-EVM User's Guide it can be activated using the “Initiate Stall” slide switch. I don't have it in the GUI.

Hi Igor,
The latest version of the GUI is v1.0.3. The desktop installer can be downloaded from https://dr-download.ti.com/software-development/support-software/MD-abhVTZhobH/1.0.2/DRV84XX-DRV89X2-DRV82X2-EVM-SOFTWARE.zip the link from the EVM webpage https://www.ti.com/tool/DRV8462EVM or the cloud based GUI can be initiated using this link, https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/MotorDriversBSM/DRV84xx_DRV82x2_DRV89x2-EVM-GUI/.
To make sure the EVM has the latest firmware you can do a firmware update using File > Program Device.

Hi Murugavel,
Thanks for your reply. The version you have sent is 1.0.2 and not 1.0.3. It is the same that I used. Sorry for the confusion, but I assumed that the firmware version 1.00 was for GUI but it is for MSP430 and my GUI is 1.0.2. I have done the firmware update also so still this feature is not there.
Just to add, I tried the web version and it is 1.0.3.
Regarding the stall feature, I understood the reason I couldn't see it. It is only available in Speed control mode, not in Step control mode of the GUI, so better documentation could help here. Thanks.
Hi Igor,
You are correct. It is available in Speed control mode only. It is not because of any limitation in the device. But it was designed that way to enable performing stall learning without running into limited run time of the stepper in step control mode.
We will include this information in the User's Guide in the next revision, thanks for the note. Please close this thread at your end. Thank you.

Thanks Murugavel, so for the 1.0.3 version, should I use the web only or are you planning to update the EVM folder with this version as well? Thanks. Igor
Hi Igor,
It should be available in the product web page as well in the next update. You can download the Windows installer from the web, https://dev.ti.com/gallery/dl/MotorDriversBSM/DRV84xx_DRV82x2_DRV89x2-EVM-GUI/ver/1.0.3?platform=win. If your firewall prevented Runtime installation from the web during the desktop installation using the installer the Runtime can be downloaded separately and you can point to this file during the desktop installation. Runtime link, https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/non-esd/gui_composer/runtime/gcruntime-12.0.0-windows-installer.exe.
You'll have to login to https://dev.ti.com/gallery with your myTI credentials prior to using the download links. Thanks.
