DRV8323: How to cool down a motor that is overheated

Hi TI er

My customer uses DRV8323 to drive the motor, but the motor overheats. We have tried to reduce the current and connect an inductor in series with the two pins of the motor.

How should I calculate the value of this inductor? Please give me some calculations and suggestions. Thanks.

Hey Tony,

Have you looked into the motor Datasheet/parameters to see what sort or switching speed, RPM, current/voltage can be handled by the motor? Usually see heating in motors during stall or high loads.

Yes, this is similar to a high-load application, because the customer needs a large force to spray out the liquid in an instant, so I would like to ask, do we have a theoretical calculation formula for the series inductance?

Hey Tony,

Would you be able to test the effect of increasing PWM frequency on the temperature?

We don't have a formula on calculating the inductance currently.
