DRV8212: Questions of DRV8212

Part Number: DRV8212
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8213, , DRV8833

Dear Team,

We have an electronic door lock evaluation case/XE5008, and there is a need for a motor driver.
1.Single channel motor
2. PWM control interface
3. Vin: 5V
Please help and suggest a motor driver that should be used in electronic door locks.

Also, is there a motor driver solution for MPS/MP6550GG?

Many Thanks,

Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

In addition to the DRV8212, the DRV8213/14 have similar functionality to the MPS/MP6550GG and should be competitive in this application.

    DRV8213

    DRV8214

    Best,

  • For the electronic door lock evaluation case XE5008, you can consider using the DRV8833 from Texas Instruments. It meets your requirements as it is a single-channel motor driver with PWM control interface and operates with a Vin of 5V.

As for the MPS MP6550GG, I'm not aware of a specific motor driver solution matching that part number. It's possible that MPS (Monolithic Power Systems) offers motor driver solutions under different part numbers, but without more information, I can't provide a specific recommendation.

  • Hi Yuliya,

    Thank you for the suggestion.

Yes, the DRV8833 would also work with the given specs. The DRV8833 is a dual h-bridge motor driver, meaning it can drive two bi-directional brushed-dc motors or one stepper motor, has PWM control, and can operate with a supply of 5 V.

Depending on the design, features needed, and the current required for the application, this motor driver could also be a great fit.

    Best,

    David
