DRV8243-Q1: Why DRV8243-Q1 doesn't current accuracy data for >4.3A condition

Part Number: DRV8243-Q1

Hi Expert!

In DS, it only gives the factor for <4.3A Iout. However, it is a 12A device, do we have such data for higher current condition?

My customer want a 2% current sensing accuracy. Do you have any other alternative device for suggestion?

  • Hi Shuai,

It is a 12A peak device but current for short durations. Current regulation is used only of continuous (DC) current capability of the device. 4.3A is well above the continuous current that can be supported by this device. See table from datasheet page-19.

Integrated current sensing cannot achieve 2% current sensing accuracy. For achieving such accuracy across the operating range the customer may have to use external current sensing based drivers such as the smart gate driver DRV871x-Q1 and perhaps an high accuracy external current sensing amplifier if the internal CSA (current sense amplifier) cannot provide them the accuracy they expect in the desired range.
