DRV8213: nFault issue

Part Number: DRV8213

Hi Sir,

Please refer to the attached file, when the DRV8213 boot up, why the nFault pin has the pull down about 126us?

DRV8213RTER_nFault_issue.docx

The nFault pin has added a pull-up 10KOhm to VM_3.3V.

  • Hey Henry,

I am able to recreate this on my EVM, I also got 125us, nFAULT going low approximately 2.48us after IN1 going high.

Give me a day to check in with our other teams on this, as this is a new part.

    Best,

    Jacob

  • Hey Henry,

I heard back from design team:

We pull down nfault during power up till the device is active and outputs enabled. This marks that the device has completed calibration and is ready to drive.

Since this is an autosleep device, it powers up with INx and you should see OUTx toggling or IPROPI build up after nfault is released.

I then confirmed this with the EVM by probing OUT1, and found that it is turning on at the end time of that nFAULT low pulse.  The 125us is within the spec time for tWAKE (<250us)

I'm not sure why this isn't clear in the datasheet, I will look into it.

    Best,

    Jacob
