Hello team,

Is there any specific range for value of RSENSE?
In other words, is there any limitation range for ITRIP value set by RSENSE?

    Hi Kei,

    Yes, the device will have thermal limitations as well as an Overcurrent Protection threshold. The IOCP for this device is 3.7A. The outputs will shut off if this threshold is exceeded for longer than the ocp time, tocp = 1.5us. The device also has Overtemperature protection and will shutdown if a safe operating temperature is exceeded.

    Thank you for your quick reply.

    I am asking this because some motor drivers has ILIM value only valid for certain range of current.

    For example, DRV11873 has Ilimit only valid for 500mA to 2000mA.

    Is there any this kind of valid range in DRV8231?

    Hi Kei-san,

    No valid range required for current regulation. 

    Current regulation is available as long as the motor driver is operating within recommended operating conditions and the current is under OCP threshold.
