DRV8425: VREF difference DRV8424/5

Part Number: DRV8425
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8424

Hi team,

Limit of VREF are different DRV8424 and 5.

Does this mean that the rated current is different for 2.5A and 2.0A, but the internal circuitry of VREF is the same?

Also, if used beyond this limit voltage, what problems will occur?

Best regards,
Goto

  • Hi Goto-san,

Yes, these devices are similar in functionality but have different current ratings. This is due to them having different RDSon.

See the comparisons between these devices here.

If this limit is exceeded it can lead to OCP or OTP (overcurrent or overtemperature) shutdown of the device.

    Best,

    David
