Motor drivers forum

Part Number: DRV8353RS-EVM

Hi,

I am designing a motor driver using the DRV8353-EVM schematic as a reference.
I'm unsure about the purpose of the circuits highlighted with red squares in the schematic below.
Are these circuits essential? Please explain the function of each highlighted circuit.

  • Hi JH,

Thank you for your question.  Allow me to follow-up with a clarification on these circuits, as they are indeed optional but useful.

    Best Regards,

    -Joshua

  • Hi JH,

Section 1 (the GLB to SPB capacitor) is used to help with transients/voltage dips during switching, which could be helpful depending on how the parasitics of the power stage layout may negatively impact the performance.

However,  I am not as sure regarding the section 2 and 3 circuitry, and am still looking into this matter.

It most likely is related to transient suppression as well.

    Best Regards,
