DRV8705-Q1: Functional Safety Out Of Context

Hello,

Can we get additional data from TI (not found in the datasheet) that states ASIL compliance of this driver, mainly to define in the context of FuSa what kind of element is the driver:

1. Class 1 (no evaluation required)
2. Class 2 (some more complex I,e, smart sensors, etc).
3. Class 3 (ASIC, uC, etc).

Thank you for your questions.

DRV8705-Q1 is FS capable device by TI's classification. No statement about Class 1/2/3 in these documentations TI provide about FuSA/DRV8705-Q1, but normally this type of motor driver is considered as class 2.

Thank you for your reply, but according with TI about hardware element classification, it says the motor drivers are class 3, which now is a bit confusing:

Hi Julien,

First of all, DRV8705-Q1 is not ISO26262 device, therefore less documentation related to Fusa. No classification exists in TI document related to DRV8705-Q1.

I saw some customers judged similar motor driver as Class 2, but it is customer's decision.

I was hoping TI would have some documentation for this driver using Hardware Element Evaluation of a class III element (ISO26262 part 8 clause 13)?
