DRV8245-Q1: Resistive Load Testing

Part Number: DRV8245-Q1

Hi Team.

Customer plan to use resistive load to test the functionaity of DRV8245-Q1.

The idea is to check whether the output of OUT1 & OUT2 is normal or not.

Plan to leverage 2S2P 1.5ohm/40W Cement Resistor for the testing.

=> H-Bridge: 8A (ON for one second, cycle time TBD)

May I know whether it will work?

If you have another suggestion, kindly share it with us.

Thank you.

  • Hey Evan,

Yes, this will work fine.  In fact this is often how our team tests loads on devices if we want to avoid the effects of BackEMF on the test.

Note that the power resistor won't have BackEMF effects of the motor, and you won't see a startup inrush of current like you would a motor.  But yes, will work fine to test the device.

    Best,

    Jacob
