DRV2700: Used to operate LCG Smart Glass

Part Number: DRV2700
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2667

Excuse my ignorance here as I am new to a lot of this. I had seen a video of TI using this to operate LCG Smart Glass and am looking for a similar situation but not sure I fully understand it. Most of what I have seen and what little I know it seems it is DC input. And I believe the Piazzo is mimicking an AC output? As the Smart Glass I have seen, their controllers are saying the output is 70VAC Square Wave 25/30/32/50/60Hz.. Would this unit powered by 5v DC be able to achieve the 70VAC needed to operate the Smart Glass? As to my novice level I have only seen inverters to transform the DC to AC. I have looked into the H Bridge bu again still in beginners steps so please be patient with me! Thank you everyone!!

  • Hello,

I would recommend getting the DRV2700 or DRV2667 EVM for testing. This family of devices can be powered over a USB cable or externally from 5V and are capable of up to 200Vpp, or 140VAC (capable of ~1W of power). Depending on the load capacitance of the smart glass, it should be able to drive it.
