ULC1001-DRV290XEVM: ULC1001-DRV290XEVM

Part Number: ULC1001-DRV290XEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY, ULC1001

Hello

We followed the schematic provided by the EVM in order to build our own control PCB

We already have the EVM and we tested it (work as expected)

When we tried to connect our PCB instead of the EVM (controlled by USB2ANY through I2C) we were able to connect to the board as you can see through the GUI but we got multiple red flags (over power, system fault, open load)

Could you provide us what went wrong depending on the feedback received by the GUI? what kind of changes we need to do in order to make it work?

We are using 12V as power supply

and the VBST after the boost converter is 29.7V (similar to the voltage measured from the EVM)

Thank you for your support.

  • Hello,

Just a follow-up to my previous message

When i disconnect the USB and connect it again, i try to run the calibration again, but bottom bar keep switching between idle and read USER_commands.... as mentioned in the picture below. It's like freezing.

If there's any solution to that i will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

What version of the GUI are you using? Do you have the new version of ULC1001? If you are unsure, when did you get your samples of ULC1001?

  • Hello,

The manufacturer who build the prototype PCB for us ordered the samples (we ordered the PCBs around 1st of april) but we are not sure if they got the samples from you or not (high possibility from you)

I am using the old GUI as the EVM is also the old model.

Do you think i need to install the new one?

Can they co exist or i need to uninstall the previous one to install the new version?

After that what are the steps i need to follow?

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards.

  • Hello,

I recommend installing and testing with the new GUI as the samples are likely our updated silicon. The new GUI can be found in the ULC-DESIGN secure software folder. The updated silicon has a new block of registers that are needed to configure the device.

  • Hello,

I will test and provide feedback if something happened.

I would like to ask should i start directly by the calibration or i need to read all the register first?

If the GUI freezes as the previous one is unplug and plug the USB is the only option?

    Best regards.

  • Hello,

When you open the GUI it automatically configures ULC1001, so you can go directly into calibrating. There is no need to read all the registers. Also, are you using one of TI prototype LCS or a custom LCS?

If the GUI is stuck in a mode, you can press the abort/reset button in the GUI or close out of the app.
