DRV8317HEVM: missing VIN_AVDD decoupling on EVM?

Hi,

I think the datasheet recommended decoupling caps close to the DRV8317H VIN_AVDD pin were omitted on the evaluation board, right? VIN_AVDD goes all the way to the other side of the board to a jumper, and from there routed to the selected rail. Therefore, any caps already placed on the selected rail are necessarily very far away from the IC pin. or am I missing something?

Hey Guy,

Thank you for the question.

I just check out the EVM design files and you are correct. The local decoupling caps are not present on VIN AVDD and the routed vcaps are far from the IC. Please follow the datasheet guideline to have the vin_avdd caps close to the device pin.

Thanks for the quick reply and you are welcome. I will follow the datasheet recommendation. I guess it's nice to know the internal LDO is stable enough to work even with far away input caps :-)
