DRV8462EVM: DRV8462EVM

Part Number: DRV8462EVM

Tool/software:

Hi TI,

We accidently shorted across one of the motor outputs to ground of another DRV8462EVM board. I am able to control the motor via H/W with the faulty board (nfault was red and is no longer) but when I go to SPI and click awake I can see in the register map that every bit of each register is 1 even when flipping the reset bit. What can be done to repair the PCB?

  • The second board I can control the stepper motor via SPI but when I try to select certain configurations ie set current limit higher I am unable to via the GUI = all registers are also showing up as 1 despite being able to control the motor?

  • Hi Phillip,

I will look into this on Monday and get back to you when I know more.

    Best,

    David

  • Hi Phillip,

If possible, could you describe or show the setup of the output short? What was motor voltage and how long was it shorted? Did you see or smell any smoke/plastic?

If you are still able to drive a motor with the "bad" EVM, it might still be ok. I would check all the signals including, all SPI and nFAULT signal with output signals with an o-scope to make sure they look ok.

Before the short occurred, was the register configuration different?

    Best,

    David
