The reason to the questions is that I would like to connect DRV8432 to a microcontroller powered by 5 volt. According to the specification for DRV8432 the FAULT and OTW (open drain outputs) can be connected to microcontroller input via a pull up resistor of 4K7. The arrangement cost two resistors.
It’s trickier to adapt the microcontroller outputs to PWM and RESET lines; they are specified to nominal 3.3 Volt. Of course, it’s possible to arrange level conversion by using an extra voltage regulator for 3.3 Volt and devices from the family 74LVC for the level conversion. The disadvantage with the solution is the large number of components. I’m looking for a solution consisting of as few components as possible.
The specification tells also that it’s not recommended to use VREG output as voltage source for external devices; I interpret that is not allowed to use the VREG as power to a device for level conversion.
Is it anyone who has some good idea how to solve the level conversion?
Thanks’ in advance
Jerry
