DRV11873EVM: Plug and play Sensorless BLDC driver

Part Number: DRV11873EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV11873, MCT8316A, MCT8316Z, DRV8306

Tool/software:

Hello Team,

We are using  DRV11873EVM for testing BLDC motor ,but its rating is less ie 16V / 1.5A.

Is there other driver similar to DRV11873 with high power around 30 to 40 and current upto 5A.

we want to use driver without GUI or software like plug and play.

Regards,

Sayali

  • Hi Sayali,

We do not have a device which is plug an play like the DRV11873 and is rated for 30-40V and up to 5A current. The closest device to the DRV11873 we do have is the MCT8316A.

The MCT8316A is rated for 40V abs max and up to 8A peak phase current. The internal algorithm of the MCT8316A supports both 120 and 150 modulation. Once the MCT8316A's registers are set, the configuration can be loaded in to the devices EEPROM which makes it so that the configuration will be loaded at power up. Once the EEPROM is set with the desired configuration the MCT8316A can be used without any software or a GUI.

If you are ok with using drivers which require hall sensor inputs then the MCT8316ZT (HW variant) or DRV8306 (external FET) would be plug and play and not require any GUI or software for tuning or to spin a motor. Both of these motors are rated for 40V abs max with the MCT8316Z being rated for 8A max.

    Regards,

    Joshua
