Pretty much the question. I was rooting around sysconfig for the MSPM0L1306 and noticed that the back channel UART is not used.

What mechanism is used to communicate back and forth?

The real reason to ask, is that if I use the gui as a start point for my own app, is there anything I need to do to remove this communication path?

Also, and I am pretty sure I have this right, but the jumper you add to the EVM holds the MSP430 in reset so all the pins are High-Z, correct?

Hi Keith,

The DRV8889-Q!EVM GUI is designed with an onboard MSP430 MCU. The communication path for this is different, it is done via USB to UART VCP. You cannot use this GUI with an MSPM0L1306.

The MSPM0 team has a GUI for this, https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/TIMSPGC/MSPM0L-DRV8889Q1-EVM-GUI/ver/1.0.0/ . You need to jumper connections from a DRV8889-Q1EVM to a MSPM0 launchpad. Details should be available in the MSPM0 SDK, https://www.ti.com/tool/MSPM0-SDK.

Yes, but how does the GUI for the MSPM0L1306 communicate with the MCU? I suspect it is directly writing/reading the memory via the debug interface.

Yes the GUI communicates via JTAG using the XDS110 onboard the Launchpad.
