DRV8316C-Q1: Leaving the BUCK pin unconnected for DRV8316C-Q1

Part Number: DRV8316C-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi, TI team

I have a question for the BUCK that built in the DRV8316C-Q1, we don't need this circuit in our design,

so we disable the BUCK  by setting the BUCK_DIS to 1h,

There are no ERR after deleting the Lbk, Cbk, the function seems all OK.

But on page 26 in DS said it is not allowed to leave open,  so can you help to clarify ?

Is there any potential risk if we delete the Lbk and Cbk? Thx

 (page 26 on DS)

  • Hey Mat,

Thank you for the question. I have assigned a team member to set timeline expectations.

    Best,

    Akshay

  • Hi Mat,

It is my understanding that we mainly recommend populating the buck components as to not cause a false-tripping of the buck regulator fault systems, as these are not disabled and have the potential to be activated if the buck pins are left open for systems like the hardware variant where the buck is not able to be disabled.

I hope this clears up any confusion on the matter.

    Best Regards,
