DRV8301 - design and settings for on-chip buck regulator

Hello:

I'm looking for assistance in using the buck converter integrated into the DRV8301.

My question is how do you set the switching frequency, I know with a resistor, but what value for what frequency?

Same for the output voltage, I know it is a resistor divider, but what is the input current and internal reference to set the output current limit, compensation network, soft start time, etc.

I see that the pins are there, but cannot find the information on how to do it.

Please see the equation below for selecting RT resistor for desired frequency. The range is given in the datasheet under the tabular data for the buck.

Dear Mr. Kehr,

I'm trying to use the buck converter section of the DRV8301, too. I find that the section of the datasheet regarding this matter is quite incomplete. Is there any other document where I can find the data needed to design the compensation loop?

It seems that the buck section of the DRV8301 is very similar to a TPS54160. Can I take it for sure?

Yes, in fact the TPS54160 datasheet can be used as a design guide for the regulator in the DRV8301.
